When to shop for clothes in UK? December...

I'm really excited to be back in Manchester next week. I really want to buy new clothes and please tell me when is the good time to shop. Where they have sales etc. Is it better to shop during the Christmas holiday? Before or after? I really want to have a cardigan,plaited skirt and new boots. Do you know where to buy them?

If it's sales you're after, it's best to start shopping December 26 up until early January. Stores are starting their sales earlier and earlier now though, so in the run up to christmas there's usually SOME sales about.
The main high street shops are Topshop, H&M, River Island, Urban Outfitters, American Apparel and I can't think of any more off the top of my head but there are loads. You really just need to shop around (:
EDIT: Oh and for shoes/boots there's Office, Faith & Aldo which are really good. Most of the high street clothing chains sell shoes as well though
