I have yet to see it, because it sells out so fast around here - but has anyone else seen it? Is it living up to all the hype?

i haven't seen it, i don't watch scary movies. but one of my close friends said it's not all it's hyped up to be and the only scary part is the end (which they show in the trailer)

I decided to see this movie yesterday because everyone wouldn't shut the Hell up about it. It's being hyped as "one of the scariest movies of all time", and it's really not. Don't get me wrong, the audience was practically crapping their pants at some points, but I just don't understand why. The pacing was slow, "scary moments" didn't happen all that often, and the only thing that actually "scared" me was the ending. Don't get me wrong: I admire the writer/ director for getting a very low-budgeted film to become the phenomenon that it is now. I just wasn't affected by the movie.

If I could describe the movie succinctly, it would be: "Paranormal Activity is 85 boring minutes and 1 awesome minute at the end." Not worth $10.

I saw it, I thought it was all hype.
Honestly there were 5 minutes in the ENTIRE movie that something actually happened.

I've heard so many people say it's really scary. But then when you talk to the horror- addicts aka my best friend Tara she said it's scary-ish but the only real horror part was the end.

I didn't like it! I watched the 2007 version which has a different ending to the one that is out at the cinema's now but the rest was the same. Apparently the ending was "Hollywood-ised".
But, like everyone else has said, the only "scary" part is near the end.

It was over hyped! One of the most scariest movies I've seen is "Coming Soon" - A Thai Film (Thai's make the best horror movies) I love the fact that its subtitles so you MUST watch if you dont understand the language. Im going to be sooo gutted if America remakes the movie!

I saw it last weekend. It was okay. Kind of boring overall. The only interesting, scary parts that happened were in small parts throughout the movie. The ending WAS really scary though... The whole movie was okay I guess. Better than the Blair Witch Project at least...

Hmm.. if you want to be freaked out by the movie then don't watch it with a lot of people. If you do then it might turn out to be funnier than it is scary hahah..

I agree that it is over hyped but still worth watching.

Oh My God
Ridiculously scary. I hadn't heard the hype really before I saw it either.
It just builds up so slowly, it's so believable (until the very end)
I shudder just thinking about it

I just watched it last night. I've seen scarier movies though. The build up is rather slow and the male lead irritated me towards the end being such a disbeliever. But my sis was freaked by the movie though.

This only came out over here on Friday and I went to the late showing, alone.

Christ. I nearly died. It's weird because like, CGI horror and stuff doesn't really scare me, but this film was pretty psychological and it just hit me. I didn't sleep that night because I was so freaked out :']

Exactlyyyy. It's not gory, but it's not 'boring', it's just slow and subtle and really gets under your skin and seems like it could be credible. Especially if you believe there's more than just what they eye can see around anyway. Urgh I am freaking out massively thinking about it right now.

for me, it deff did not live up to the hype. I watched it alone, in the dark, i was definitely able to sleep (it was last night) the only scary part was when they were looking at the exorcism on the computer, because that shit happens in real life, and i don't know if that was real or not though.
also, people were saying "even if you don't think it's that scary, the guy is funny"
he isn't. :/

in the 'scary ending', the girl gets dragged out of bed by the ghostly spirit thing, and down the hall and downstairs (off camera) and screams really loud off camera, and the guy goes downstairs and we hear him scream. a few minutes later, the girl (posessed) comes up to the bedroom with blood on her shirt, and sits down and starts rocking back and forth for a whole day, until the police come and shoot to kill her.

I thought it was really scary! The home movie thing was super convincing. I wish they didn't show the ending in the trailer though because I would've been flipping out had I not known what was going to happen.

In general, I didnt think it was a very "scary" movie, as in, I didnt jump or scream or anything. What it mostly did was just disturb me for an entire week :|. I was more scared after watching the movie than during. It just creeped me out because i hadnt heard anything about it or seen the trailer or anything and thought that it was real.

THE ENDING WAS SO FUCKING LAME.

Seriously, guys. That was a cheap ending. They should have went with the other alternate endings they had shot for the movie.

I actually liked the movie up until the guy was thrown into the camera. From there, it was just stupid. Then again, I'm a tough critic.

Nope, it didn't live up to its hype. It probably was the most disappointing movie I've watched especially since I keep hearing that it's "freaky", "the scariest movie I've ever watched", and so on and so forth. But then that's partially my fault for having expectations of a film that was so hyped. I tried to get into it a la no lights on, watch at night, volume loud and even with my efforts included, I couldn't get freaked out.

I thought it was very predictable and short on the thrills and with the lack of suspense, there's nothing much to feel. I didn't get surprised and I didn't feel scared from any of the moments. I was more impressed on how they did the scenes where she gets dragged out of bed. (>_>) I did watch the one with the so-called "Scary ending" and I thought it was interesting but still not scary. And then I thought, "Maybe this is one of those movies that freak you out after you watch it or you feel some kind of after effect..." and I was able to sleep well.

Oh well, I'll just have to wait for the next great horror movie to come up.
