How long do you spend editing one photo?

I used to never spend any time editing my photos. All I did was adjust the white balance and contrast in Adobe Bridge and saved as JPEG. Then I'd save the settings and apply it to the rest of the images xD.

Depends on the picture :)
I think that everybody should focus on "before taking the picture part" what I mean is that we shouldn't spend that much time editing the picture, but we should think about how to take the picture properly, with the correct camera setting (e.g : aperture, speed, iso, etc), think about the environment around, how to play with it, so you can improve the picture!

I agree with Kevin, spend more time taking the picture the way you want it to be, as opposed to editing it afterwards. The editing shouldn't ever take too long; I just do levels, curves, and that's usually it. Doing too much usually turns a picture monochromatic.

I usually also take a lot, perhaps no so much time. I think photo editing is as important as taking the photo.

Some people smooths their skin with the patch tool and brighten their under eye puffs. I love brightness/contrast and selective colour, I use burn and dodge tools too to enhance details. Sometimes I use liquify to fix the proportion and distortion. But never above 15 minutes, the more time I spend in it, not visibly better.

It really depens on what you're going for. 30 mins is about standard for a simple clean look like a lot of the photos here on LB, but if you want to make it more dramatic or add custom features, it could take a lot longer.

i don't edit mine unless it's too dark. i want to be hyped on outfit not editing skills. obviously it looks more aesthetic if they look good but i prefer my pictures to be in a good light rather than with special effects which detract from the point of the post

Depends. If the photos are analog, scanned to JPEG, I'll usually just resize or crop, and leave alone. Digital usually requires a bit more editing to have what I like, quality-wise.

Maybe 10-15 mins.
I'm very much in the learning process but I will sort out levels and curves, sometimes do a little bit of blemish removal where necessary and then tinker with it a bit to tweak it.

Less than 5 minutes, usually. I think what would really improve my photos the most is a better background and camera. Any extra photoshop probably wouldn't help lol

I never spend a lot of time editing. I usually don't edic my photos as I don't have a programme to do it. :( Does anybody recommend any online programmes that are free and easy to use?

I guess I would say that it really depends on what your going for. for me Lookbook seems like a tool based around disseminating images and existing within part of the network, I personally like to see images that have been heavily edited on here, it seems more in key with whats going on as I think post production to play a more important role sinse the advent of digital photography I'm thinking in terms of Hipstermatic and Instagram but I also like the rough choppy unedited, taken on a camera phone which seems to be more for filling some kind of need to document ourselves and exist within this network.

I always edit my photos and usually take them in RAW format which is quite big (around 20mb/picture). Depends on the pictures e.g the environment or the backdrop. I usually edit the brightness, shadows etc to enhance the photo, and then add some coloring effects or 'light leaks' if Im into it + improve the backdrop like darkening the skies etc. and removing distractions from the picture. I usually take more than an hour depending on how many pictures I edit + the fact that my computer is suppperr slow -.-

It usually takes a few minutes. I'm not a master of Photoshop, so I have all the pictures handled very simply.

It does depend on the picture for me. But the whole lot will usually take no more than 30 mins and that includes editing, cropping, selecting, and importing for use.

Uhm, it depends :)
If the photos is good I only have to edit lights or to crop it.. and it takes 1 minute :P
It takes more time if I have to make a collage or if I want to add special effects, but never more than 15 minutes :)

No more than about 15-20 mins. I will generally adjust brightness, contrast, hue, vibrance, and saturation to make the photo as natural and close to the way it looked in real-life as possible. I will also apply an high-pass filter (radius 2-4 pixels) overlay in order to get an unsharpen-mask-like effect.
Often, the photo I wish to use on LB has not been taken with a pro-lens with good aperture control. As a result, the DoF is often farked. I will often "cheat" to achieve a shallow DoF effect in PS by duplicating the background layer, extracting the foreground, then applying lens blur to the rest. It's a really tough effect to get right, and I think I'm slowly getting better at it. But the real key is to start feathering the intensity of the blur as you move from foreground to background.

It depends what I need to do. If I want something more interesting I create action which can take 10- 50min and use it for other photos from photoseries :)
If something simple up to 5mins :)

this really depends on the photo. Usually I try to have the white balance, light and composition as good as possible on my raw photos, so I dont need to edit them that much! usually I spend just a few minutes on each photo, but sometimes it's more tricky so I have to spend more time!

Depends on the photo for me :D I can take quite some time on certain photos. I especially like them to try to match so I can collage them for lookbook.

I usually spend about 5-10 minutes per photo, depending on how much Photoshop wants to cooperate with me (: I have an action that works with generally all the photos I take and it gives my photo the extra oomph to make it look good. If I want to make it a collage, I spend an additional 2 minutes to do so.
