I fell in that obsession too, but now i'm cured :P. So i going to write my story, and maybe someone else can stop his own obsession too.

I entered here without knowing anyone, so without fans. Because of this all my first looks have 0 hypes, and I feel really bad with this, so I started to want some attention. Then i started to post in those kind of topic like "please hype me" and things like that.

Until i stopped and think.

I never entered this site to get hypes or become popular. I came here to inspire myself with all this amazing looks, that I can see day after day.

But this is the curious part, when I noticed that, i started to get inspired and the consequence was that I started to improve my pictures. Since then, the hypes came alone (well, no loooots of hypes, but fine for me)

Conclusion: forget about the hypes, stop create topics like "hype me" and things like that. Just get inspired... are amazing looks here, enjoy it.

PD: I know my english is awful, sorry for that.

totally agree! mainstream is all over the place!! this site was at the beginning for average people who got style and dress up nice for themselves! now we got people who model for brands, having photoshoots and stuff! i don't mind that! but the site is become something else! it's not what is all about anymore!

@ Paz :
you're absolutely right!! the key is to exchange with others whithin the community, hype, comment, make feedbacks etc! but the main thing is to enjoy what you do and what you wear! it's not about pleasing others, it's about getting stylish and feeling good about what you wearing! and we continue to improve as we get inspired! :)
btw i took a look at your profile and your looks are nice! keep it up :)

Thanks for this great imput! I'm really new here in concern to posting looks. But I came to this page in the first place to get inspired and this page really changed the way I dress and the way I feel about dressing myself. So thanks for reminding me that it's not about the hypes but about the fun and participating. :-)

Urgh that really annoys me when people do that. I loooove lookbook because it inspires me more and more everyday, I loooove seeing all these different people posting different things, its soo nice.
and then those post they just get me kind of upset.

You guys are totally right, I had this same exact realisation halfway through today. An hour after I had uploaded my new look, and checked the hypes on it for the fifth time, I just stopped and thought "Why am I even doing this? I joined this site to look at awesome inspiring outfits and inspire myself to design and sew more things and improve the way I dress. Not to win some made-up, never-ending popularity contest"
