I do enjoy her music. She is very talented to me, I'm not sure why a lot of people dislike her. I think it's just because she came from a rich family & had connections to get famous haha. Her SNL performance was bad but it seems like she was really nervous, her body language sucked.

But her music is lovely and on top of that, she photographs amazing.

She has nice lips, but I've heard it's botox. Also, I like her voice but she really sucked on SNL. Some of her music is enjoyable- I bought two songs- but some of it is too boring and self indulgent for me to stand. She reminds me of syrup.

I don't understand how people can say she has no talent.

Who gives a fuck if her family is rich? I wasn't aware artists are only allowed to come from poor backgrounds.

And she can perform live beautifully, just not on snl. Seriously.. youtube her other live performances, they're amazing.

I love her look and most of all her voice.

I think she looks soooooo much like a high school bitch to me :D haha and and a little bit like the girl from american beauty.
I love her songs "Born to die" and "Blue Jeans" but the rest of the album sucks a little. She is very nervous when she performs but I think that will get better when she has more experience. So she'll be a big one!

I love her. Some of her songs are awesome and her image is so planned that I can't help but love all the cleverness behind her.
And tbh the SNL performance was awful, look for the bbc live ones or the one at the chateau marmont, those are good performances.

I love her. I think theres a real beauty in her lyrics.. some are simple and stunning, others are
"cluttered and cool".. I think she's pretty, and I like her music alot. And yeah.. I didn't realise all artist had to be from poor, struggling back ground.. -_-

Yes, that performance is pretty shocking, but I have seen her other times live and she was stunning. Everyone has bad days.. :P

And as for the " fakeness" Im not sure yet.. her interviews are a little uncomfortable to watch, but that might be because she's shy. Or just poised. :)

I think she's quite talented, and has a unique sound. I love her songs, and regardless of whether her image is authentic or not, the raw emotion pouring out of her when she sings is real. I'm excited to see where she goes.

I really really like her, think she's incredibly beautiful, and her songs grow on you. I didn't know who on earth she was until a couple of weeks ago, but now I can't stop listening to her! I respect her for trying to make the performances unique but sometimes I'd wish her manager would just say 'sing it like you did on the record' because sometimes when she experiments it goes a little overboard and it's just a bit weird. I like her voice, it's not perfect, hey why not, and I like the breathy quality to it. Her songs are good, catchy, simple and lyrical. Her lips, I want them, no idea if they're real or not though.

I find her not likable. I love genuine, real music artists, so the fact that she lies about the one thing that's too obvious to anyone's eyes is unacceptable to me. Aside from that, I'm not blown away by her singing. I'd call it simple if she wasn't trying so hard to be "simple". I haven't listened to much of her music, but the songs I've heard from her are not memorable. So she doesn't sing (a lot of) mainstream, but that doesn't make her special or different from the others. Truthfully, I never knew about this whole rich girl thing until I came here, but any true music lover would be able to scratch through all the glamor that makes her famous to see the real talent she has, which is very little, to my concern.

I personally love her music. And as for her performances, its very difficult to actually sing in front of so many people.. As a singer I get chokey just like her and my body language sucks but as long as your lyrics work and you really have a passion I really don't see whats wrong with it.
And as for people calling her a phony.. Are you kidding? She worked for years trying to make it and her first album flopped and was shelved straight away. If you look at anyone like the likes of Rihanna or any of those pop "princesses" they have a complete team behind them recreating them to make it big. Look at Rihanna from when she first come out until now. The difference is crazy. So to say that shes a phony, is crazy because realistically everyone in the fame game are, and to make it you have to work around whats likable and whats not, and originally Lizzy Grant wasn't.

I like her music a lot. I've actually been obsessed with her new album recently. As she is a musician, I value her music and talent, not anything past that. I don't care about her background or her face, and those who deem her as "inauthentic" because of her wealthy parents and drastic physical change should really just cut it out. I do believe she has talent and I do like the feel of her songs. It's true that her lyrics aren't literary masterpieces, but her songs are centralized around melodies and beats. I guess what I'm saying is that they're essentially lyrics set to very interesting and captivating vocals (in my opinion) and dreamy melodies. They are NOT melodies set to beautiful, interesting, and captivating lyrics. Get what I mean? And, hell, I have a guilty pleasure for songs that don't have lyrics that I have to rack my brain to analyze (which I do enjoy sometimes, but not always). I like to imagine I'm in a car, speeding down some highway to nowhere, while blasting music on the radio, and Lana Del Rey's music is perfect for that scenario.

She doesn't fit everyone's palate (obviously, that goes for every musician), but I think people need to stop valuing her for anything but what she is, which is a musical artist. Way too much drama over crap that doesn't even matter. Who the hell cares about whether she has had lip injections? She didn't get a voice alteration (as if that's even possible), and her music didn't conform to pop standards when she was transformed from Lizzy Grant to Lana Del Rey. She just changed her appearance and name — that's not inauthentic or manufactured, that's just life.

I'm on the fence.

I never ever tend to know what's in the charts and who's cool, but I happened across the video for 'Video Games' on the telly. The video itself was quite poor but I liked the song.
I've listened to a few others; none of which I've particularly liked.
Yes, her live performances haven't been spectacular thus far. I think she'd look a darn sight prettier if she stopped pouting!

She's a bit 'meh'. Nothing new!

I like her recorded songs, the SNL skit not so much, and her look 100%. Unfortunately, her label booked such a high profile gig for her way too early on in her career. She doesn't have enough shows under her belt yet to give her stage presence and live experience.

Nobody mentioned so far on this thread how wonderfully CREEPY her songs are-- mainly because, if you just give the album a single listen and have a decent education, you'll realize the entire album is about Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita! It's actually a very interesting interpretation of the book. Hell, the chorus of my favorite song, Off to the Races, is "Light of my life, fire of my loins" (first page of Lolita). And in another song she mentions heart-shaped glasses (Diet Mountain Dew), and another song is TITLED Lolita. And her album art is obviously inspired by the Lolita book and films. I love concept albums, so I really started liking her album when I realized this. I started off totally hating her! And yes, Video Games is boring. It's probably the most boring song on the album (why is the biggest single? strange). And yes, she's not so good live. Yes, her SNL performance sucked. Yes, she's weird and cold, but that's why I like her. You should also see Kristin Wiig's interpretation of Lana Del Rey from this past week's SNL (during Weekend Update)-- brilliant!

She takes some time to warm up to her. The first time I heard Born to Die, I didn't like it much at all, I thought it was a bit to weird and not really my music taste. But something about the video and her attracted me to her, I just kept watching it. It also took me awhile to warm up to video games. But once I did, I loved her and got her album.

Although, I never thought she deserved to hatred given towards her. She has done nothing wrong?

I'm not a fan of hers. Her lips look bizarre and fake, which was my first problem, but I gave her a chance despite and listened to a few songs on youtube and I really wasn't impressed, nothing about her stood out ('cept for those damn freaky lips). I'd heard a lot of stuff about her being manufactured, which didn't help either.
I really honestly just think she's another corporate pop star designed to appeal to 15-22 year old women. She's just another Brit-Brit, the companies have gotten smarter and seen that American Apparel and pouts have a powerful following and changed their game to tackle that market.

I don't get why the same people that say they hate fake, are calling her beautiful. Her lips are injected, in my opinion she looks WAY better before than after,also I've seen her without makeup and her hair done. I think her nose was done too. And some people mentioned her face was injected but I sorta doubt that one. I don't know her as a person so I refuse to say I don't like her, she could be a nice and sincere person. Also I don't care about if an artist came from a rich family or not. It just annoys me that people obsess over celebrities like this. Yeah she's pretty, but people need to look at her talent. When her voice is edited it sounds amazing. Live, it's okay. But I'm not sure someone huge would sign her if she sang like she did on SNL. Maybe she was nervous, but I never heard someone get like that when they're nervous, but hey, everyone's different. She'd be great as a model maybe. She kind of remind me of that popular girl that people would still obsess over no mater what they do or how they look.... like Regina Gorge on Mean Girls. But I do love her hair, makeup, and style!!!
