I was at my 14 year old neighbor's house yesterday.

She told me that a couple weeks before, she made out with some guy.. and went out and bought a pregnancy test afterward because she thought she was pregnant.

Yes, pregnant from making out with someone.

I don't understand. I knew I wasn't that daft two years ago, I knew a lot about sex, but wtf? Do the schools not teach them how pregnancy is caused? Or is this girl one of the minority examples of plain stupidity? Is it her parent's fault for not educating her?

To be honest, I prefer idiot 14-year-olds like this to 14-year-old sluts who already lost their virginity.

lmao... I think that it's just plain stupidity.
I didn't have sex ed until the 8th grade, which in my opinion is quite late. I've known how babies were made since the 3rd grade.

Would have been strange selling a pregnancy test kit to a 14 year old.
Just sayin'.

I've met quite a few teenyboppers like that. When I was in private school and about that age one girl told me that she was on an acne medication so strong that if she even kissed a guy she could get pregnant. A lot of people aren't educated about sex, like my 22 year-old neighbor had no idea what sex was until she got to college because her parents sheltered her so much. On the bright side, girls like this are not the majority. On the down side, the pre-teens/teenagers that are 'educated' about sex are moving waaay too fast.

maybe she ws afraid/ashamed to say: ''I had sex even though I'm 14' and she didn't want to sound like a cheap slut
so she made it a little better with make-out

Haha, well my sister skipped a lot of those science sex classes (she thought they were icky) so she also thinks you can get pregnant by kissing someone, and shes 14.

No, thankfully not everyone is like that! I have several younger girl cousins who were all educated about sex in school from a young age (they went to the same MS/HS I did). I'm the oldest cousin on this side and I know we're close and that they look up to me, so they ask me questions all the time. I don't really mind, I'm just honest. But I know they've kissed guys, and they weren't worried about getting pregnant haha.

when I was 14 we had sex ed in health class and science as well, like we had to label diagrams of penises and stuff, and learn how to put a condom on and watch women give birth but at the same time they were all like 'DON'T HAVE SEX UNLESS YOU LOOOOOOOOOOVE THEM' which is a bit unrealistic imo. but really, it's the parents' job to properly educate kids on this stuff, so maybe she was heaps sheltered, or like someone said she was lying about having sex :P

if she thought she could get pregnant from making out then why didn't they use condoms?

bad joke. i know.
anyway, yes i think it's rare 14 y/o girls don't know about babies and sex etc.
part parents fault, part fault of schools, part her own 'fault' (can't really call it her fault if she doesn't know about it) but there's enough stuff about that on tv, the internet, in magazines etc. it's seriously impossible these days not to know how you get pregnant and how not ;)

i never really asked anything related to sex with my parents. i learned about PMS menstruation and stuffs when i was 5th grade, reproduction at 6th grade, then on 7th grade i had my first sex ed. i was never taught how to use condoms or to have sex the penis has to go through the vagina. they only taught me what parts of our body changes as we grow up, genital diseases, pictures of herpes and STD, and free sex is bad.

I don't think she's an idiot, I think she's just cautious because she was never taught. Some schools are trying to take sex ed out, so it's not completely her fault. If anything, I'd be happy that she didn't know anything about it because then she won't try to rush into anything that she has no knowledge of.

At 14, I had yet to have a real sex ed class. I mean, in 5th and 6th grade we saw reproduction videos and all about puberty and whatnot, but never did I hear anything about sex in school or at home. I'm the second youngest, so by this point in the family, my parents relied on the school teaching us, rather than them teaching us. I learned all I know about sex from the internet and from experience.
So, I don't think she's dumb at all, just misinformed.

O this reminds me of something else, we have this Girlzmagazine in which they always have sextalk, so you can send your issues in and they answer your questions. Anyway, one of those girls asked if she could get pregnant from "sex with your shower" (she was 16!) and one if it was dangerous to do things with fruit.(she was 13..)
Some people are so weird. Though I think this is still better than two 11year old girls who had sex with eachother and sneaked out of the window when their mom came in. DUDE WHAT THE F? They were 11, if you're 11 you don't have sex with your best girl friend? Than you drink tea and talk about boys and have pjparties.
Overexperience at that age is much worse than being misinformed.

When I was 8 I already knew what sex was.
There was some kid in my class who stole porn from his dad. (':

I even asked my mom "a decent word for fucking"..
The poor woman was utterly shocked. Ooh, those times.. (':

I think she should know more about sex at her age, but I still believe that is better than girls having real sex and not realizing they can get pregnant.

I was a fairly sheltered homeshooler, and I knew more about sex at age 10 than this girl! lol

But still, her innocence is nice to hear about. There are few people with that these days.

she sounds pretty dumb but some people never grow out of that way of thinking. My friend goes for an STD check up every six months despite the fact that she hasn't even been intimate with anyone in that period of time. She also gets an HIV and AIDs text every 6 months even after her GP has told her countless times she doesn't even need one *facepalm*
