-the exploratorium (go early): it's kinda like a super cool science museum haha. they have an indoor rainforest, and there's a planetarium thing. an albino alligator :) i read your message back again, and you say you're not into the touristy stuff, but this is pretty fun if you feel up to it
-pier 39: at fisherman's warf, various places to shop and eat
-piperade: a nice french restaurant, not super fancy, but not too casual either, make a reservation in advance
-flea market/farmer's market: saturdays, lots of stands and such, fisherman's warf
-fisherman's warf (along the water): lots of little shops, restaurants, park, good place to walk around
also, there are other places to shop and eat that aren't in the city, you could explore marin, berkeley, etc.

if you are planning on shopping a lot you should definitely go to union square
you should also go to tiburon, it's like 10 miles from SF and it's right by the shore, it's really nice

Haha thanks Zuha! And I stayed at Union square a few months ago, I live next to a mall mecca (South Coast Plaza) so I'll pass with the H&M, F21 and whatnot. I'm looking more for vintage and secondhand stores or boutiques ( and yes I've been on Haight-Ashbury) haha

He still terrorizes the people, er tourists, of San Francisco!
Haha, I refer to him as Bush Man.
He is amazing. I witnessed him scaring a woman shitless.

I go to san fransisco all the time and it's amazing. You should definatly go to pier 39 which has a lot of shops, and is very touristy. Chinatown and Japantown are also great places to go, but you should make sure to visit Market St which has an amazing mall called Westfield where I love to shop. To eat I usually just go to mom n pop places or hole in the restaurants that you can find all over the place, which I think are a lot better. One of the best things about San Francisco is just walking the streets and looking at all people. Also, parking is really bad there so I suggest a parking garage off of Minna St that usually isnt very crowded. Have fun!
