why do people do shit like this? I don't understand. Do they enjoy being perceived as insensitive assholes, or...
the other day a guy my sisters and I know posted some crack about not having decided whether or not he wants to die young, and my youngest sister, who lost her boyfriend in a car wreck two weeks ago, commented saying 'you shouldn't joke about stuff like this.' Instead of doing the decent thing and apologizing for being inconsiderate, he DELETED HER COMMENT. Douche.

one of my go-to breakfasts is two pieces of toast: one with avocado and ground pepper, one with mayonnaise and sliced tomatoes.

I'm assuming, in part, yes, most of this has to do with a cry for attention, since most people do it even after they've been told not to as it offends. But at the same time, there are a lot of people who do this because they're honestly ignorant of the consequences of their actions. They see their words as words, not creations from their mind that hold any real meaning. Gay, nigger, faggot, dyke, rape, etc. They're all just words. They have definitions, but not meaning.
Yes... one has free speech, and one can choose to make rape jokes. And I'm sure some sick person would laugh. But folks like this don't understand that the moment a word comes out of their mouth, it has a lifespan, which sometimes can hurt some quite viciously. It's just pure ego-centrism and insensitivity at work.

Woke up with a cold, though. Booo.
So I'm sore and congested and painting the studio walls... Buuuuut I get to pick up my check from the French department for the poetry contest I won, and also I have an interview for a summer job I'm sure I'll get and am actually happy to do! So yeah, moneymoneymoney.

Haha aghrhhakjshdlkgjhalksdjhf
See, I'm not opposed to joking about anything in particular. I make some horrendous jokes, I'm sure. But I'm super bothered when people refuse to admit the emotional consequences of things they carelessly say and allow themselves to continue doing that, unconsciously contributing to a more hostile atmosphere. When folks act like, "Oh it's your fault for being offended!" that just smacks of so much laziness and denial.
The least that someone can do, when confronted with the fact that they've upset someone, is pause and ask, "Why does that upset you?" Even that alone is so much better than a knee-jerk denial that you've done something wrong. I have been called out, and you know what? I'm glad that people have called me out for things I've said. Because I wouldn't have stopped to think more thoroughly about it. Sometimes I've disagreed, other times I found that I had fucked up. Just gotta own up to it.

my English teacher is so dumb. we have an essay due tomorrow that has to answer the prompt "many people interpret William Golding's Lord of the Flies as Golding expressing a lack of hope in mankind or that humans are naturally evil. Write whether or not you agree with this interpretation."
so we have to write about what we think William Golding's interpretation was, and if you're against the idea that he thinks we're all doomed (like me), you're basically screwed when it comes to finding supporting evidence from the text. goddamn.

I feel like such a baby for this, but I actually cried a little bit because so far all of my friends have turned down celebrating my 21st birthday with me because they'll all be out of town.
I should be used to this... my birthday being in the early summer meant that I always had lame turnout for birthday celebrations. But I just want to see people I haven't seen since high school. I don't care if I drink legally. I've been drinking with my parents since I was 14, there is no novelty there. I just want to see my fweindz. Las Vegas is lonely in the summer. :(

What the hell, I used to work in a bedding shop and I never got shown that, I used to have the wrestle the damn things pack into the packs!
I disagree with the cupcake-eating method though (assuming it's the same technique I just googled), you're not eating it properly if you don't get buttercream on your nose!

My friend is a driver for dominoes and he said it's literally one of the easiest jobs ever. And the dominoes he worked at was pretty close to one of our friend's houses, so if a delivery was in their general direction he'd park up outside their house, run inside, do a bong, then go deliver the pizza.
Silly boy.

having a major 90's nostalgic moment...I'm ashamed to say that it's been too long since I've listened to local music...
(I love this but it was poorly recorded, both music and video)
I wish this band didn't break up. Now I'm left to mull over the idea that they used to make awesome shit and how the other members, who are now in different bands, should be making more grunge stuff (or simple stuff, really) instead of trendy (but we should never call it that! it's supposed to be 'nonconforming') sub-par dream pop music.

Had to spend almost all of yesterday at college doing research on universities for applying to UCAS later this year
Can't decide whether I should:
A) stay in my home city where I'm comfortable and have a good thing going (plymouth college of art).
B) go to Bristol, got mates there and it's not toooooo far from home (UWE)
C) go to manchester, that city is like my spirit animal and I have loads of fam there (Manchester school of art)
WHY AM I SO BAD AT MAKING DECISIONS, YESTERDAY IT TOOK ME 20 MINUTES TO DECIDE WHAT CRISPS I WANTED FROM CO-OP

Yeah, I'd move out even if I stayed in Plymouth. I'd go insane living at home for another three years. And if I'm already paying £9K a year I may aswell fork out a bit more and truly enjoy being at uni, plus I'm low income so I should be entitled to maintenance grant not just a loan.
And yeah, that is a good point...

Ahhhh there's just something about Manchester that I love, and nowhere seems depressing after Plymouth. Plymouth's only redeeming features are it's aquarium and many pubs.
But Bristol is gorgeous, UWE is meant to be good, and it's 2 hours from home, as opposed to 5....

Yeah, plymouth's all coastal with a fuck off massive aquarium and loads of tourists. I suppose it's actually quite beautiful right at the waterfront, but the rest of the city looks like a fucked up jigsaw puzzle because of how badly it was bombed.
On one street you've got quick build 1950s council flats, opposite amazing houses from the 1800s, next to a modern night club, next to a beautiful but abandoned early 1900s theatre. It's so weird.

That sense of achievement and seeing the longevity of what you have created; its beautiful.
Why not do it? Its like art but with more purpose and more logic and can be used globally - meaning a ticket out of the country.

i dunno, i'm tempted to look into it but its a nightmare to get an apprenticeship here, and theres also a thousand other things i want to do at the moment. would be really nice to just be really good at something and be able to go anywhere and do it because people always need shit making for them
