Hey there. Well i'm considering cutting off most of my hair.
Now the lowdown about my hair:
i'm mostly african-american. i have several different textures in my hair, probably since i'm quite multiracial, that range from extremely tight and kinky to soft waves. i used to relax it, but since last year have stopped and have quite a bit the new growth. due to stopping, my hair has broken off. it used to be a bit down the small of my back but is now slightly above my shoulders (and awkward length on me). not using chemicals has also made it difficult to straighten (it actually was healthier when i relaxed). my hair takes an EXTREMELY long time to grow. it's never been long before.
i either want extremely long hair, or short hair. never had either. and i'd like to keep having bangs. both would be hard to straighten my hair with. however the first option would take a long time (i've been trying to grow out layers too). i'd like to get the cut asap to see if i'd like it or it'd be manageable. that way if it's not, i have time to grow it out a bit for school next year (as well as prom next year).
i'm not very tall, i'm barely 5'1". i'm not skinny or have small features. i'm of average weight, 115lbs, medium/small build, and a c-cup. i'm curious if getting a small hair cut is only going to exaggerate this (and i assume it does).
there are photos of me on my flickr and LB page.
also, there's a sort of "stigma" against black girls purposely cutting their hair short when it's on the longer side. i've had hair dressers when i was younger who would refuse to cut my hair. also, any guys i've ever met state they oppose short hair on girls. honestly i don't care too much what either has to say, but it's a factor.
this was long-winded, any advice or OPINIONS would be helpful!~
