I think a lot about plastic surgeries..
are they acceptable in today's society or just a total no-go?
has anyone of you already had one?
what do you think about them?
can little flaws make a face/body sexy (and would all the sex appeal be gone without them)?

I want to have my nose and my chin done since my early teens but I'm so worried about what the people would think of me then...

I wouldn't get anything done myself at the moment, but I don't think I would ever judge anyone for getting surgery. If you really want to get your nose and chin done and feel it would improve your life/self esteem/whatever else then go for it, as long as it makes you feel good it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks of you.

I dunno, I think it's a double edged sword. On one hand, you're pressured to get this or that fixed because god forbid you have cellulite or wrinkles on your face, and then on the other hand, there's a stigma for people who actually go ahead and get the surgeries done. "Oh, look at how vain and shallow these people are!"

I mean, you've seen magazines. They'll either find the most unflattering picture of a celebrity, or they'll try to guess who's had plastic surgery by plastering "before and after" shots of whatever body part they think went under the knife. You can't win. Personally, it's something I would never do and I think more people should just make the most out of what they were born with, but what you decide to do with your body should only be your business and other people should just mind theirs.

For purely cosmetic reasons - no burns, no horrific accident - I'm strongly against plastic surgery. And I do judge people for it. Sue me.

I think it's an unnatural thing to do to yourself and it sets you up for a lifetime of troubles, as the rest of your face ages or you have to get corrective surgery, etc.etc.

I'm not religious but I think in normal circumstances, people should learn to embrace the looks they were born with and not tamper with themselves permanently and artificially. I think it's dangerous and pretty disgusting.

I'm all for plastic surgery if someone actually needs it. For example: If they can't breathe right through their nose or if they are in a horrible accident and become disfigured or if they are just born with a birth defect they want corrected.

But if someone wants elective plastic surgery then that is there own choice. I don't mind that they get it done because it's practice for the plastic surgeons so they can become even better at fixing actual problems rather than just wanting some nice tits.

I would only have plastic surgery done if I was in an accident that left me disfigured. But when I'm old I could change my mind... who knows.

Imperfections are beautiful.

I am not a fan of cosmetic surgery...could never and would never.

I find cosmetic surgery to be unnecessary. I've never been too keen on the idea of slicing and dicing just to satisfy some underlying self-esteem issue

now reconstructive surgery is something entirely different

Mm, well, I don't think it's a good thing- as people have already said, the idea of having your face/body sliced into isn't exactly an appealing one- and I know that we should all be content with the appearance that we were born with, blah blah blah, but I have to admit that I would almost definitely go and have a nose job tomorrow if I could afford it.
I think that for some people, and certainly for me, plastic surgery really has the potential of changing your life. I have spent my whole life obsessing over and hating my nose, thus the idea that I could change it, and therefore remove my nose-related worries forever, seems wonderful. So, yeah... I think that although it isn't the most natural or appealing thing in the world, at the end of the day, it's your body and if you are so unhappy with it, or something about it, and if getting plastic surgery will improve your self-confidence and life in general, then there is no problem with getting plastic surgery.

I'm going to try and make this short:
If you're only getting plastic surgery to try and be more socially acceptable or to fit Hollywood's idea of 'true beauty', then I'm definitely not for it.
However if a person is TRULY unhappy with something about themself and it's holding them back in their life from happiness or from what they really want to be doing, then I'm all for it.
