Do you think tv shows like this are really helping these people, or destroying their individuality.

I HATE those shows and shows similar to them. The only time I think it is alright is if someone signs up for it themselves.
I've watched them numerous times where they completely replaced great clothes with ugly crap.
One that I can remember is where this girl wore costumes all the time. One of them was like Indiana Jones and she would wear the hat and carry a whip as an accessory. I thought that was so awesome.
I hate watching the victim's closest friends and family tell them how much they hate their style and are embarassed to be seen with them. Those are NOT your friends if they signed you up to be publicly embarassed on television.

Agree so much with that. They are not your friends! The only show in that genre that I can tolerate is ten years younger if it's Lisa Eldrige doing the makeup. She's amazing. :)

i watch shows like these from time to time. i dont see anything wrong with what i've seen so far because most of the people featured either dress like they dont give a fuck at all, in a bad way / they're 15 when they're already 40 and it shows / generally dont know how to dress themselves.
the 'results' i've seen turn out okay, better groomed, not really stylish but at least better than before. i think shows like these are intended for the general populace, most of which dont care about fashion.

I used to watch What Not to Wear, and sometimes they really help people with their fashion sense. It just makes me mad that they make everyone dress the same :/. I think literally see the same outfits every time I watch it. They're always all about blazers.

I've watched those types of programs and I don't see anything wrong with it. They usually feature Mum's who couldn't be bothered/didn't have the time to dress well after they had kids, or older women faced with teenagers clothes so they don't know what they can buy. And to be honest, I think a lot of the people on these shows look a total mess. They look like they just can't be bothered so I think the shows do them some good because they look stunning in the end.
Shows like Hotter Than My Daughter are funny, though I think they only need to re-do the Mum's styles on that show. The kids can be left alone.

Kind of helping sort of, maybe... not really.
haha
these shows lack personal style. They are so generic and every person that comes out of the show wears the exact same thing. Granted, the look way better than they did before so thats good. But I just unrealistically wish more people cared about personal style i guess

They don't really hold my interest, I find them boring.
Everyone looks the same after, jackets and fitted trousers and shift dresses, and have their hair cut into a bob...meh

I used to like to watch "How Do I Look," but then the show host changed and then I stopped watching. But thinking about it, to me, it seemed like the people who entered and were reluctant to change, just put on a fake smile and said "They loved it" when really, they probably didn't. I dunno, that's how it seemed to me.
