I haven't read the hook but the trailer seems really cool.
It just made me mad how the guy went into the future and met the daughter.
I'd personally be so pissed off, like hey, I wanna see her together! No fair!
But then I'm 13 and still believe everything should be equal.

I started reading it several weeks ago and love it.
However, I find it to be chaotic sometimes, with the author jumping around with the whole age thing.
I had to go on a brief hiatus from reading it due to summer work though >__<
Still, I can't wait 'til August 14! (For the movie)

I read the book a couple of years ago but didn't think it was as good as my friends hyped it up to be. I might have to re-read it though because the movie looks like it'll be pretty fantastic.

The book was a peach. Found it by chance in my college library, and was enthralled.
Only found out about the film a few weeks ago ... looking forward to it. Hope it isn't disappointing.

I actually want to see the movie partially because she's in it. I think she's a really good actress, and a couple days before I saw a trailer for it I watched Wedding Crashers and realized she kinda disappeared for a while haha.

I do love those movies :) And she doesn't really have a typical type of character she plays, which seems different than other actors/actresses.

This is one of the best books I have read in years; I recommend it to everyone. Even guys. And most of them say, "Well, it was a girl book, but it was really good."
I about vomited when I saw the cast list for the movie... wtf Eric Bana?! and that Notebook girl is not how I pictured Clare AT ALL. I'll probably still see it, have an aneurysm, rant for 15 minutes to the poor sucker who saw the movie with me, and then go read the book again to make myself feel better.

I haven't seen it yet so dunno if you can gather this from the preview or not, but the thing about the way he time travels is that he can't control it; it happens randomly (ie. he didn't go INTEND to go to the future and meet the daughter). that's what makes the story so interesting :)

This is suuuchhh a good book, I loved it haha, couldn't put it down.
Does she have any other books?
I'm not sure about the movie, I've just always thought it should be played by unknowns, not by big Hollywood actors? And I've just always imagined it being English, even though it's an American book...

i love the book so much.
when i read the actors they'd chosen,
i was very disappointed.
not because they're not good, but because
i didn't think they'd fit.
now i've watched the preview, and i can't wait to
see it !

yeah sad thing is that stuff comes out a million years later over here in aus.
i am curious though; even in the book some of the parts did seem improper (with henry being 43 and clare being 18??)
wouldn't it be weirder in the movie...
