i have a question.
i don´t get the whole "you are new and your looks are not visible because you are new" thing.

i have tested: my look is visible on the new page (with karmafilter off) for maybe 20 people or something. most of the time its not visible.

so: i tried to get some hypes with commenting, hyping other people, writing in the forum. but still my average is about 5.
my looks are not THAT bad.
i don´t get it. how can i make sure to get enough hypes to get on the new page when nearly nobody is even seeing my looks?

is there anybody with the same problem?

I felt the same way at first but after a while it gets better and people actually do see your looks. Based on my experience its al about
1. commenting on other people's photo
2. talking in the forum
3.putting up looks regulaly and..
4. make sure the looks are taken from a good quality camera

and what iv learnt is that its all about time. It takes time to get alot of hypes and to get 100% recognized so just keep posting, keep commenitng and hopefully you'll get more hypes.

And trust me write in the forum, because i now hyped and commented on most of your photos. so you are getting recognized :)

Hahah hope i helped :) xox Sera

its filters the looks with less karma. actually its a good idea, so you don´t get spammed by really bad looks. but it keeps away new lookbookers from getting noticed too.

oh yeah i feel the same way. I think that this system is full of injustice like the word where we live.(sick sad world)
Let the richs are getting richer and richer (the populars lookbook users) and the poors get poorer and poorer.(the poor newphie that we are..) In brief that's not cool, so I think that everypeople should turn off the karma filter, for a lookbook more equitable ans just(just? i don't know if we say that in english)

anyway
SOLIDARITY WILL SAVE US :)

ps: there's my first look

I agree, it is difficult to get many hypes easily. But I just enjoy sharing different looks with people and getting inspired from many others.
And one day, if we are stylish enough, I believe we will get more hypes :) xoxo

Don't worry! there is nothing to do because
1. you have not been posting for muhc time and you have Hypes, that's ok.
2. If you look at some forums a lot of old members reject new members, they say we are copycats.
3. there are some people (I've seen at least 3) who have never posted a look and have 12 , 20 fans. How? I don't know
4. I have less hypes than you, It's always good to see someone is worst than you lol.

no. i hyped one of your looks right away. i saw a lot of great looks here with an incredible lack of hypes like this one:
lookbook.nu/look/1302681-we-cover-distance-but-not-together-if-i-am-the-storm
or this:
lookbook.nu/look/1504247-Wild-n-Cuz-I-m-Young
or this:
lookbook.nu/look/1474633-No
or this:
lookbook.nu/look/1501217-U-BELONG-TO-ME

its all about the karmathing. so most people watch looks with strict filter. so nobody is watching you---> nearly no hypes.
its not fair!

I posted my first look not too long ago and yeah I have been on LB a while and it got about 16 hypes and I was sooo happy with that :) Then I learnt the power of commenting and hyping on others. I started hyping and commenting on looks way more than before and now I have an average of 50 something for two looks, which I know isn't much... But still more than I expected :D

ive been new since the beggining of the month and only have one hype...i thought commenting and hyping others would give people a chance to see my profile...even though i only have one look posted i still think it wouldnt make a difference on how many pictures i have up

To be honest, I think a lot of people out there hype more based on the photo than the actual outfit. From what I've seen, about 8 times out of 10 the looks on the 'hot' page are interesting photos in different scenes and colours and such. There ARE looks on there that are people standing against white walls (which I like because it's purely about the outfit then), but many times I feel it's more about the photo itself. Though I can see why, the more appealing the photo, the more I want to hype it regardless of what the person is wearing because the photo is pretty.

There's no way to get noticed quick though. I've been here since September last year and my average hypes is about 2. I comment on other peoples looks, I write in the forums and I post a new look every week or so, but I still don't get noticed. It just takes time really, so enjoy the process :)

I still average somewhere under 10. Everything usually depends on my luck, haha. They see you or you don't, sometimes I tell myself it depends on the time of day I post, but there's so many people here from other timezones I doubt it.

I'm no longer new, I've got over 100 looks and have been here for months. Don't get down if you don't get hypes - the system is hard to beat with all the popluar kids and their fanbases. Hell, plain jeans and t's get hyped +472716 times on the populars than some of the good shit.

Moral of the story: just keep doing what you're doing aka be active. It's a slow climb, but I find I'm doing better than I was (even if it's nowhere near the stars).

I think it's really unfair to stop people for showing up on the "new" page just because they are new and have no hype! Obviously they have no hype, no one sees their looks!

And I totally agree that some looks with a lot of hypes are really horrible sometimes.

Okay, let me break it down for you:
1. You need to have look fit, not anorexic model-thin skinny, but fit.
2. Simple. But not too simple. Think simplicity, don't over do it.
3. Look tall.
4. Good lighting (if your using flash, use a white wall until the knees)
5. Follow the rules.
6. Timing is everything. Post at maybe 3pm New York time.
7. Hype the people who don't have that much karma. They actually read the comments and often times, they respond. You can still hype the people who are big karma gainers, but it's quite unlikely they'll look or fan you (this is reality I'm talking about).
8. Photography. It's a fashion site, yes, but if you take a crap picture of yourself the chance of you being popular is 0.01%
9. (the most important rule) NO WHORRING! No asking for hypes, fanning or asking people to check your looks out because you will just annoy them (It annoys the hell out of me especially when I see it on the forum *ahem ahem*)

Done. I don't think I left out anything, hopefully.

It's almost impossible for people to see your look on the new page, because there's always new looks coming up and yours eventually disappears. So you have to keep participating in the community: comment people's looks and post in the forum. If people get interested in your picture or by what you write they may check your looks. I do it sometimes so, why won't everyone else? Since I've started participating I got some really nice comments. I almost don't have hypes but it doesn't really bother me that much anymore ;)

i dont know what the rule on this is, but i dont think two persons can post from the same account, and you might get banned or something for that.
