Hype whore?

I just made my lookbook and I already have 30 hypes, and I feel like that is way too much for the first day, let alone if I did that everyday I would have over 1000 in a few months. Do you think it doesn't matter, or do you think you should only hype looks you completely adore?

I only hype things I really like. But there is such a variety of people on here it shouldn't matter the number of things you like.

I hype the things I like, because I feel like there's so many under-hyped, under-rated looks. So many people are left with 0 or 1 hypes that have genuinely good looks. I also try to personalize it with good comments about what it is that I like. I don't think that all the things on the hot page necessarily earn their hundred hypes in comparison to some getting less than 5 when comparably the looks are very similar in style. Do you know what I mean?

When I first started, I will admit I was a hype whore. But now with some I like, i'll leave a comment without a hype. And when I'm really digging it, i'll hype with a comment. Guess i'm weird or something.

i hype lots of look, but only if i like the entire outfit. i won't hype for a nice top if i hate the trousers and shoes. i may leave a comment about it though :)

I've hyped a lot of stuff. I like it that way.
1) It lets other people know that I like what they're doing (plus, doesn't it feel good to get hypes??)
2) I can look at everything I've hyped and get inspiration from all kinds of looks

I have 209 hypes & have been here since October.
I hype anything that inspires me, so I can always go back and look for inspiration. If it isn't something that I would wear, I don't hype (even if I like it).

i also hype the looks i like. and if i'm in love with it i hype and comment.
i think it lets people who visit my profile know what kind of looks i like right?
plus it's nice to look at it again.

Well aren't you awesome! 30 hypes in a day!
lol
I agree with Maya. It's dumb to hype something that's already getting tons of recognition as it is.
I'm really jealous of you though! When I started, I didn't get over 20 hypes until like my 3rd or 4th post!

yeah, i try not to hype things that already have like 7456 hypes, lol.
but i'm totally jealous that you got 30 hypes in one day!! so rad!!
i think i don't get as many hypes because my photo quality sucks, so maybe if i had a better camera i could have better pictures...and more hypes?

haha I only have like 50 hypes and I've posted like 12 looks.
maybe part of it is that I hype but don't comment much, or maybe I'm just uncool :]
anyway I generally hype things if I like the whole look, and/or they have something really interesting going on. I'm not necessarily stingy, but I think about hypes - I make myself to decide whether I'm drawn to it because the photo is nice, or because I like the outfit.

I hype something if I like it.
It's pretty simple really.
I can see my number steadily rising but hey, I like alot of different things, why not show that?

I hype the looks that I like, always from the new page with the karma filter off, so I won't miss an outfit. That means that sometimes I vote for looks that 6 hours later have 6000 hypes. I don't care. If I liked the look when it had 15 hypes, I like it the same if it has ocurred to have 500. One day I just decided to hide the number of hypes of the outfits, it is easier then to take into account only the outfit. Hypes are free! And I love to make comments, because it becomes the hype more personal, you have to pay attention to the outfit, not just clicking the mouse. =D

I only hype if I see a look I myself would wear. It's as much about praising the person who posted the look, as it is about creating a collection of inspiration which I once in a while can flip through when lacking some. (:

I'm pretty sure you're getting no hype because you're not in the pictures. I assume you're a guy, after all. So you should take pictures wearing your own clothing; your models don't count as you, and likely, if one of the mods catches you, your looks that don't feature you will be removed. Rule number four of the Lookbook Rules!
"#4 You must be in the photo.
Only photos of yourself are allowed. Photos of strangers, friends, models, people you styled, etc. will all be removed. However, if you are an independent designer, crafter, or artist, you may post photos of other people if and only if they are modeling clothes made by you."

I hype a lot, even if I just like one thing in the outfit. I figure it doesn't cost anything to hype, so I'll do it as much as I want :).

I know this is an old topic but I found it really interesting. Actually, I often wondered it, I sometimes feel bad when hyping a lot of look... I think I tend to overrate the looks but when I like something (wich happen very often) I just want to let the user know it. + I almost always leave a comment with it, always a new one af course, I would never copy the same twice :s I don't think it's a bad thing, each one has got their own opinion on that point.
