how do you control? i sometimes have a tendency to overspend, which usually makes me poor again. :c not good!

I'm sort of forced on a budget. Buy a Visa Gift Card (if available) and only bring that and a few bills to the mall. Tell yourself you can't spend more than $300 a week. Start punishing yourself if you go over, eg, no computer, no shopping for a month, etc.

well i control myself because i have no money... i spent it all on clothes & food lol. but, you have to think like when you're buying things to be smart. like "do i already have something that looks like this?" or "could i find something similar to this somewhere else for less?" etc.
I don't have a job yet... so any money I get always goes to clothes. I try to make the most out of my dollar, so I make sure to not buy anything "expensive" unless I know I'll wear it a lot.

I just always shop at places I KNOW I will get a bargin at. Also, if you are small, you can get away with going to the kids department of the thrift store, for instance, I wanted a new blazer, but alot of them dont fit right, and I found one in the kids department that fit me JUST right. it was 3.99, also I got a jean jacket for the same price, also! I wanted a pair of red shorts that american appareal had and I found a pair just like it in the kids section. you must NEVER buy on impulse. always try it on, and you have to be ONE HUNDRED percent happy with it. or else its a waste of money. also try to make friends that work at stores you like to shop at, they can get you great discounts.

im poor. haha,
but you should try going shopping without your money keeping the things you want in mind. then come back with the just amount you want to spend. that way, you cant overspend.
I bring cash when shopping, so I have a limit.
also, 90% of everything I buy is sale, so I get more things for my money. It keeps me from overspending.
Just this weekend I went shopping at the mall and I bought a jean shirt ($10), a pair of Steve Madden heels ($30), an argyle sweater (for a friend, $6), and a necklace (for my mother, $22), all for just over $60. Now I'm completely broke, but that's completely besides the point....
just think to yourself "is it worth it?" and "will i wear this more than once?" :)

I control by thinking, is this garment worth killing a bunch of people in Iraq and Afghanistan over? If the answer is no, I don't buy it.
I am so poor right now from shopping. It's embarrassing how much I've spent on cloths this year.I could have a nice car right now.

I limit what I look at and find other hobbies to indulge in. Its hard though, coz I manage to find one thing i.e a shirt, then I'll find something else, and in my head I'll think 'oh that would go really nicely with the new shirt that I got...'Its a lot easier for me to spend my money since my Mum usually wants to pay me back for it. And I also don't have to provide for myself. I've found online shopping though is better because having to go through the process of putting in banking details etc usually puts you off buying it.
well, the way i prefer to spend money is to spend more money on fewer high-quality things rather than get like, a ton of cheap crap from target. the bitterness of bad quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price fades.
