Hi. :^)
My main goal is to raise interest and awareness of heterosexual men who wear hosiery, in a non-fetish way.
A lot of men & women have blood circulation problems. They have very serious health issues. Many of them have to wear prescription hosiery to improve their circulation in their legs.
Should men with health problems be required to wear them under pants? I honestly think that they will be more comfortable wearing hosiery under shorts & kilts.
What do you think? Would you accept men with shorts & prescription hosiery as normal?
I accept them. I don't have circulation problems. I wear hosiery & shorts, because:
` I like the look
` I like the feel of the fabric
` I want to portray the look as normal, so that others can walk around unnoticed
` I want to expand my wardrobe
Would you be willing to support me? Do you know guys who wear hosiery?
Would you share your thoughts, please? :^)

it sounds like a weird idea, but i love the way you've pulled it off in a really understated, this-is-perfectly-normal kind of way, and not a hey-i'm-doing-something-weird-for-fashion way, you know what i mean?
i really like what you've done with it! i'm supporting you!

Hi Sharon. :^)
Yeah, I think that I know what you mean. In fact, that sounds just like what I was trying to do. I just wanted to push the envelop only a little, and only in the least amount possible.
Thanks for your support!
Hey, I noticed that you're from Vancouver. That's cool. Maybe we'll see each other on the sidewalk, 1 day. :^D

I am all for this look. I have been talking to my friends about it and they all think I am crazy, but, Prada played with it and It looked great. I wear tights from time to time. I think it shows off the legs, and men can have nice legs too!

Even though I don't think it looks that good personally, I'm all for things that messes with "established fashionrules". And I mean, why not? There are no reason why men shouldn't wear hoseries, skirts etc. (trust me all men: there are nothing more comfy than wearing a knee-long skirt in summer). So I'm all in support for your mission! YSL made women comfortable in suits, now it's the mens turn to embrace traditional womenswear and turn it! Viva la revolution! ^^

well, it's a final time that fashion stops conforming to the established gender roles&rules. it looks excellent. so many men have fantastic legs and yet show them off so rarely. i'd say not only tights+shorts, but tights+skirts as well. all gender-indifferent! cheers! :)

Jean D., thanks for chiming in. I like what you have to say, and your attitude. I disagree with some parts and agree with others.
You believe that there should be a line distinguishing men's & women's fashion. I agree, but where should that line be?
You believe that each sex has specific needs to be addressed through clothing. What needs are there?
Yes, it is your personal taste, but please don't feel that it is *only* your personal taste.
I think that these things are worth discussing.
@Ellis D. & @Samantha L.

Hi Joshua and Hero.
I made a mistake in my earlier comment. I tried to show people a different discussion, but I ended up showing only this discussion.
Here is a corrected version.
I've created a thread where we can list all the the men on LOOKBOOK.nu, who have posted a look showing hosiery with shorts or with a kilt.
List Of Men In Hosiery With Shorts Or Kilts
If you get a look posted, then would you be willing to reply to that thread? :^)

Do what you gotta do. But, I hate the look (although you pull it off well for the most part) and dislike the idea of androgyny, the reasons of which I'll save for another time.
Tights are associated with females traditionally. To have men in tights accepted for normal would require changing a long cultural association of tights with women. Though it's possible, it'd be really hard. I'd guess that most brains are already wired to associate tights with women as normal and tights with men as incongruent with biological drives (i.e. we're attracted to females > females wear tights, men don't > it'd be weird to see men start wearing tights). But, it's a soft-wire and not a hard-wire, so it can be changed. It'd be really hard because we receive more messages of men in tights = abnormal than of men in tights = normal.
In terms of needs for genders, there are a lot. I tried on a couple women's items from the store I work in (the men's smalls are a bit too large on me) and discovered exactly what those are: proportions. Women's jeans are too wide in the hips for a perfect fit, shirt sleeves are too short, shoulder seems are off, and it just goes on.

Hey Eugene.
I like what you said in the 1st post.
In fact, I know that tights help in blood circulation.
And I have nothing against men in tights. Whenever I think of Shakespear's era, I imagine men in tights.
However from where I come from, the people are not very open to this.
I told a close friend of mine about this, and she's very very open (which is very rare from where I come from). I told her that I might try wearing tights as it helps with circulation (which was an issue). Then I went on to show her pictures of Russell Brand in leggings (and he pulled off the image very well).
Well, she replied something like this:
"I think by telling me about the health issues you're trying to come up with excuses to wear tights. If you want to wear them for the sake of fashion then by all means do it, but don't come up with excuses like 'you want to wear it because it helps blood circ.'"
lol. I'm thankful for having a friend who is really that open-minded in terms of fashion.
She later called me a health freak. LOL
Suit yourself. If you want to wear it for health reasons do it. If you want to do it for fashion reasons, by all means, go ahead. I am hetero, and I'm for androgyny.
My only problem is, apart from my close friend, most of the locals aren't.
Let's hope things change. If rock stars from the 70s wore tights (or was it tight pants) I would certainly like to see that trend returning.

I personally favor very gender distinctive looks. I like cute skirts and ruffles on girls and long pants on men.
However, don't let other people dictate the things that you do. Do what you want to do, dress how you want to dress, and raise awareness too, if it means that much to you. Though imho there are more important things to raise awareness about than mens tights.

Hmm. I'll show her your photos when I get the chance.
I haven't bought any yet. Not quite ready yet. Looking at photos for inspiration first.
Also I'm not quite prepared to get too much attention yet. Culture here is too conservative (but slowly opening up).
But yeah I will give it a try sometime.
P.S.
Actually I do have some athletic tights (which go up to the knee) and I've worn them out in public before, but I was dressed for sports, so I guess it's understandable.

Hey, there's no pressure. When it to wearing hosiery in public, take your time.
I wore my shorts & hosiery in China, and there were a few college girls who were happy about it. They took a photo with me. Do you use QQ?

Whew! That was close. I almost deleted your post, when I tried to reply. I guess that I need to read more carefully. :^D
I agree with you about gender distinctive looks. I also favour that. I'm just pushing this 1 item. I'm trying to make it as masculine as possible.
Have you ever watched, "A Christmas Carol"? Patrick Stewart wore hosiery, and knee length pants, and acted as Ebeneezer Scrooge. I think that Patrick Stewart & the character that he portrayed were very masculine. They weren't macho, or anything like that, but they did seem masculine; at least, in my opinion.
If we could raise awareness, then it would be easier for men to wear shorts & hosiery, when they have to wear hosiery because of medical reasons. It's important to them.
Also, women wear pants, which was once thought to be men's clothing. I notice that stereotypical women's pants tend to be form fitting, tend to not have pockets, and tend to not have a zipper in the front. A perfect example is a pair of skin-tight yoga pants. I just love seeing women wear them.
I think that there can be distinctive pairs of men's and women's hosiery, just as there are distinctive pants.
Also, I agree that there are more important things. I just wanted to try my hand at trending with this issue which is less important than other issues. This way, if I make a mistake, then I could rest assured that it's not a big deal. After getting some practise, I could move on to something nearer and dearer to my heart.
What issues are important to you?

QQ? never heard of QQ. don't use it sorry.
I may not wear it in public anytime soon tho. I'm quite thin (and underweight... too high metabolism lol). Want to expand a little first. =P
Although (and a very big although) I was taking a morning walk the other day and wore athletic tights... but to me that is no issue at all...

Well in my opinion, tunics & harem pants were originally men's clothes, but now it is "common" for women to wear them.
And as I said, whenever I think of Shakespear, or people from his era, I picture them wearing leotards and tights, and matching them with "long tops".
My friend said that times have changed, and that's true. But I have a feeling that in time to come men's clothes with get "tighter" and tights (or leggings at least) will become acceptable.
