Why is it that every time men want to do something new "out of the norm", it has to be sent to trial to see if it's OK? How many times have you seen Headings/Titles of posts that say: " (Insert trend here), for men? Yay or nay?" And what I've noticed is that the majority of posters and nay-sayers are women. Men, why are we letting others dictate what we should/can be able to wear? I mean how many things are there that exist that are ONLY for men? I've even seen a few shops that have a Women's Dept and a Unisex Dept. (i.e. what men would usually wear)... Women have taken everything from men, all the way down to our boxer underwear, we have nothing of our own, yet when we try to cross the isle to adopt something different, then we get the big "NO" (usually from close minded individuals).
Many will say they don't find heels attractive on a man. Well, that's fine because there are quite a few that will. That's the same as asking a man if he finds work boots attractive on women.
Let fashion freedom be just that-- freedom. Free to chose and wear what you want. If people don't like it, then that's on them. Once people start asking other's what they can wear, they automatically give up their own free will to do as they please.
We only have one life, so live life for yourself and let everyone else have their own.

They look really nice on boots. But I wouldn't wear heels higher than 5 centimeters because I'm already tall... I don't want to look like a giant.

Well, I say men wear what they wan!. But I wouldn't want my boyfriend in anything more intense than slightly heeled boots. Does that make me a hypocrite, or something of equivalent ignorance?

Ofcourse they should be able to!
Heels are so flattering, even if society see it in a feminine way.
If there were heels specially catered for men, they could still be masculine and stylish :)
but maybe not stilettos or wedges already created for women...

except this does not only apply for men wearing "womens clothing" but just being allowed to wear what you want, in general.

No, not because it's 'gay' to wear them, but I just don't think they look good? Show me a pair that do and maybe i'd change my mind.
BUT that's my opinion, and that doesn't mean people shouldn't wear things just because I don't like them. You can wear anything providing you feel comfortable in it :)

I think that men should wear what they want.
Society has assigned gender roles, and heels are supposedly for women, which is ridiculous.
I want equal rights to do whatever I want as a female, so therefore men should have the same... If they feel good in a dress or heels, then good for them! xo

Even though heels have invented for men during the ancient time, I still don't think that it looks nice for a man to wear heels. I mean some shoes for men have heels but wearing high shoes that are intended for women, is really inappropriate to use by a man. (this is just my own perspective so don't get mad at me) -.-

PS: Not everyone has to support gay rights or whatever it is that has made you come across as quite sour. I don't and I think it is very gay for a man to wear heels. My opinion and it's staying that way.

Thank you! It's time to break free from our (sometimes) strictly genderized fashion norms.
I stated on another post that it is ok for women to wear men's clothing, but when a man wears a women's clothing, he is considered deviant or gay *gasp*. Fashion is to be enjoyed! Let people wear whatever they want to wear. Let's stop being sexist

Personally, I hate this trend. I believe they are made for women. I kept on wondering why some men wear heels and then I realize maybe because they want to have their personal style which is somehow okay.

Cothurni. High heels worn by men in Greek Theatre, bit like wedges.
Men wore 'em first, why should't they wear them again?
The associations with high heels as a sexual item to do with feminity need to be challenged.

It's so refreshing to hear how everyone is understanding about the freedom of fashion. If you really think about it, it's only clothes/shoes.... Its a way of expressing yourself and how you feel. And to have that freedom feels so great. As a matter of fact, I am currently on the train to attend a friend's opening of his restaurant and coincidentally I am wearing wedges. Sure, I got some looks but I also received many compliments. So my take on it is that people are just not used to seeing it...YET. I guess if one wants to wear whatever they like that is different, the more they do of then people will get used to it and after a while it wont be strange anymore. Take men wearing earrings, for example. Just do what you want and remember that whatever everyone else thinks about you is none of your business. :-)

Hi
I've worn the odd pair of heels too, they much more fun than blokes shoes which I find tedious at best. Men should be able to wear what the heck they like without feeling the need to come onto sites like this with 'is it OK?' questions. Its not as if women have always worn sneakers/trainers or, indeed jeans/trousers (US: pants). Trousers in particular became acceptable on women because 60-70-odd years ago, when it was NOT generally acceptable for women to wear trousers, some brave women did so anyway (and put up with the snide remarks from their peers). More and more women did this until it WAS acceptable for women to wear trousers in general life. Ditto trainers, jeans, work boots etc blah. This is recent history, folks on here will have grandmothers who never wore jeans/trousers when they were younger.
I dont really believe that there is any real need to label clothes as 'mens' or 'womens' we've all got 2 arms and 2 legs. Society uses clothing to exagerate the differences. Personally, I can tell a guy from a girl whatever they might be wearing!
Also, mostly things only look strange/wrong because you are not used to seeing them. Some previous fashion no-no's are currently the height of fashion!

Dear women who have posted comments like, "it's fine if men wear them, but I wouldn't be attracted to them."
The fashion/style world does not revolve around weather or not you are are attracted to someone, even though you may think it does. Thank God.
To the people who have posted things like, "Only if you are gay."
Since when did sexual orientation mandate fashion. If i'm straight and want to wear them I will. If i'm bisexual and want to wear them I will. If I'm gay and want to wear them, I will. Take your hetronormative and homophobic stereotyping elsewhere. Thanks.
I love the heels for men trend. It's great. Dresses men up. Makes us look good.
Finally in the words of the queen, Madonna:
Girls can wear jeans
And cut their hair short
Wear shirts and boots
'Cause it's OK to be a boy
But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading
'Cause you think that being a girl is degrading
-What it feels like for a girl. Madonna.

Well, men can wear whatever they want but that won't stop me from giving them weird looks or giggling behind their back if they wear heels. And it's not just men in heels that I would react to this way, there are many other trends (like velvet tracksuits, ew) that would cause the same reaction. We all have things that we don't like but we can't stop people from wearing them!

girls hate it when guys say we cant do something just because were girls. aren't we doing the same thing if we say they can't wear heels?
me being short i would hate guys to be even taller than they already are but i think it would be cool for a guy to wear heels :)

Anyone can wear whatever they want, I have no problem with that. but that doesn't mean it looks good.
Some guys can pull it off though, Bill Kaulitz for example does the feminine look very well C:

I'm not opposed to the concept, but I have yet to see someone makes heels on men not look too feminine or too clunky.
Bless Rick Owens, he keeps trying to makes heels and skirts for men happen. Sorry Rick, but we're a long way from that yet.

I think anyone can wear whatever they want. Its not about gender, its about expression and personality. Why does that need people to say if its okay or not? Of course self expression and individuality is okay. Just not to everyone, clearly.

I really think that in this new day and age the population is more open to differences in style and innovations. And for the guys wanting to do this- just make sure you get the perfect size and practice walking in 'em! Nothing hurts like smushed toes and twisted ankles! (:

I think it comes down to having the opportunity to diversify one's wardrobe. Women have so much more (and at cheaper prices, I might add) choices to have different looks. For example, take a nice sweater, some dressy shorts and wear boots/hard bottom shoes....now take that same sweater & short combo add some tights and put on some heels and there is an entirely different look with the same ensemble. It essentially just doubled your choices. On one hand it looks rugged while on the other it's sleek with nicer lines. I believe men are opting to go for a "cute" look sometimes vice the sole rugged/sloppy look that men's style has become. Women's shoes in general produce a narrowing effect and with the added heel height can go a step further with slimming of the legs.
Personally, I love wedges because they seem to be a good in-between medium.
