So why is everybody here so beautifully skinny?
Don't slightly bigger people have fashion sense?
Just wondering.

I have an healthy body, with curves, and I think that looks alot better than alot of those sticks.
I like my body, I wouldn't trade it for a skinny one (as skinny as many people on pics here) (:

Couldn't agree more....

So much of it turns on that person's physique not just the look itself...in fact many of the looks on people of a less defined or less miniscule build would probs go unnoticed :(

I'm not skinny, I'm just normal-slim (although I'm sure some people would disagree with that and call me chubby). I have a bust, waist and hips, which at times makes me feel blessed as it means I can pull off some fashions better than others, however sometimes I do long for a skinny, boyish physique that would allow me to pull off the same looks as are seen on the catwalk.

A couple months ago I consumed 3000 calories a day (6 small meals a day of healthy food... Msg me if u want more details), I worked out 2-5 hours a day (some cardio but mostly weight lifting) I'm 5"5 before I started working out iweighed 100 after I weighed 115, once I stopped I'm now back to 105... Am I considered unhealthy?

that's just an over generalization. many of the people on the hot page tend to be skinny and gorgeous. But there are way more "average" people with great fashion on this site.

In america it is 12% african american, and of the 10 supreme court justices there is only one african american. Some look at that as being racist yet I see it as representing our nation (racially anyways, there should be 5 females) How many bigger people are actually on lookbook? I've only seen very few appear on the NEW section. The people here claiming they're not "skinny" are no bigger than some that are on the TOP/HOT pages.

I wasn't saying I was, I was saying that I'm larger than the top lookbookers, however by the standards of everyday people who aren't involved in the fashion community I would be considered slim. Not skinny, just slim.

Because it's impossible for me to lose weight out of my bottom half. I've tried, but I drop all the weight out my midsection and end up looking totally sick and disproportionate. It's just my body type.

I'm consideered a "stick" and I'm very confident with my body, I don't need to use harsh terms like lard (stick) towards fat people to feel better, I also don't need to boast and brag about how beautiful my bones (curves) are #realconfidence

I don't think skinny or fat people are more beautiful than eachother, beauty is perceptive and its all how you work it ;)

If I wanted to gain weight I would eat more and stop doing cardio! BUT I LOVE working out so I think ill stay skinny, and if I was fat and wanted to lose weight I would get on a better diet (I don't mean starving myself) and workrout, if you're too lazy to do that then don't complain about your weight or how other people look better than you

Did you do cardio? id focus on weight lifting if I were you, gym memberships aren't expensive, you can watch youtube videos before going to the gym if you don't know what your doing... I'm very skinny and have very little fat which made it hard to gain muscle (fat turns into muscle a whole lot easier than nothing) the only cardio I would do if I we're you is walking. Msg me for a diet plan :)

Nah, I'm sure people I consider sticks, are confident with themselves. It's showing on their pictures. I don't say you shouldn't. I'm just saying, I would rather be curvy than that skinny. And I'm curvy. That's perfect. Don't be offended about one persons opinion. And don't call me stupid Jason, that's just childish.

In my book, the word skinny does not constitute a lack of boobs hips and ass. You have a skinny waist and legs, therefore in my opinion, you are skinny. A skinny girl can still be curvy you know, in fact the natural curves of the female form are more apparent in a skinny girl than an overweight girl. I'm not hating on any particular body shape, there's no need for you to be offended by my comments.

In the last 6 months I have lost 10 kg, apparently due to an over active thyroid and apparently I could lose more. Ha, it's kind of funny because now I'm right in the middle of a healthy 'bmi' for my height. I've always wanted to lose weight so bad and now that I finally have and with barely any effort, I found it it's because I'm technically sick -__- sigh.

I still don't think I'd be considered 'skinny' maybe more like average? before I thought I was 'average' too but a lot of 'fashion' conscious people would probably think I was chubby. So to answer the question, I don't think it's only skinny people who can have style. I mean, I had just as much of my style before I lost weight.

Personally (this coming from someone who is neither skinny nor curvy ) I think newer/catwalk fashions suit skinny people better, because that is who the designs are based on. Classic shapes such as pretty dresses suit people with boobs and hips. In my opinion. :)

You put your opinion out there then get ready for it to be scrutinized and get ready to back it up, for me you have done no such thing, just another girl who gets bitchy and rude cause she wants something but cant get it, do me a favour and grow pls. you say your happy with bieng curvy so why not let others be happy with being skinny

The girls I'M talking about were not girls like the other girl who replied. It's people who actually are skin and bones. And if those girls react on my comment then they maybe consider themselves a stick aparantly. I am against the fact that the fashion world would rather use very skinny girls, because when I was younger I actually thought I had to look like that to be pretty. And I still know many who think that. Don't call people stupid, that doesn't make you better.

I'm one of those people who "can't" put on weight. I say "can't" because if I eat loads and loads of crap for days and days on end I will put on a couple of pounds, but it never seems to go beyond that. I'm 5ft/5ft 1, and the heaviest I've ever been is 7st 3. The lightest I've been (post puberty), is 6st 5, and I'm currently about 6st 9. & I HATE MY BODY!

There seems to be this stigma attached to "skinny" people that they're all eating everything with caution and running themselves riot to burn a load of calories off. It seems to be assumed that every "skinny" person has worked to achieve such status, and is proud of it, and perhaps think themselves better than others for it, and often people will comment to them on how everyone prefers curves, criticising their "chosen" shape. I get this all the time, even from my Mum, who knows it is not intentional, and when I have my 6 inch heels on on a night out (I hate being so short), people who are friends and people who I have never seen before in my life, will call me anorexic. Some in jest, but still, I do find it offensive, and I don't think people see it that way.

Technically, I am still just about curvy, although admittedly only very slightly; my waist measures at 23 and my hips at 31.5. Yesterday I went bra shopping with a friend, and she was complaining about how difficult it is to get "pretty" bras in her size because she is a 34E, and she didn't listen to me saying I too had problems finding pretty bras, because she just assumed I'm a 32A. Actually, I'm a 28D/DD. & whenever people find that out they say, "as if, your boobs don't look very big at all". & they don't, they're not, but that is my size. & most of the bras in a 28 back look like they're meant to be on a teenager, there are hardly any that look "pretty" or "sexy". If it's going to be a struggle to find bras in my size, I know which reason I'd rather it be for - because I'm voluptuous, not because I'm shaped like a teen just about going through puberty! As I've said before, I absolutely hate my body, and it takes a massive amount of courage for me to get naked/semi-naked in front of someone. & I've had people see me in this way and laugh at me. So it takes even more courage nowadays! Skinny people do not always feel proud of the way they look. Most of my friends have a much more beautiful figure than I do!

To add, there may be people on here who might think my BMI is not low enough to be classed as skinny, as it is only 17/18, but I'm using my anecdotal evidence of other's reactions and my beliefs about myself as the basis of this post.

I'm not sure what the reason is for all of the "skinny" people constantly being featured in the "hot" section, but I can think of other reasons, and they are reasons which I don't particularly like. Alot of it is to do with the attractiveness of the individual's face, not the clothes that they are wearing, as well as the quality and styling of the photograph. Now don't get me wrong, photography is an important part of art, and indeed fashion, which is itself a wonderful artform. But to me, the individuality and creativity of fashion and styling seems to slip through the fingers of this site sometimes, and I come to this decision from the basis that at times, when I flick through the "hot" section and see the usual personalities popping up, I will sometimes see some very generic looking outfits, and this is a reflection of what's happening in the fashion world in general of late. I often argue with my boyfriend for example that just because, say, Dior, have made a particular garment, that doesn't necessarily mean it is wonderful. I think those great moments where a series of garments with potential are put together to create something which looks spectacular should be celebrated; no matter who made the clothes, or indeed, the size or the "beauty" of the person wearing them.

Who cares if the majority of the members of this site are skinny or curvy?! We should all just be here because we love fashion, and love seeing how other people interpret it, because we love the art involved in it, and our progression in it as our mood changes and as we are exposed to more and more of life's experiences. Fashion expresses the personality of an individual without having to exchange a word of conversation with them. It gives us the opportunity to present ourselves with the things we appreciate most. Let's celebrate it for that!!

A lot of people I know personally consider me skinny, but on Lookbook I'm considered quite the opposite. I want to get the point where I have a good body for Lookbook, or for fashion, but because that's not my natural body type, it'd probably require starvation, which I'm not sure I'm okay with... At least I know I'm not for other people.

I think it's generally easier to pull off clothes with a skinny body, but that doesn't mean bigger girls can't look good also. We just have to work a little harder to find clothes that flatter us.

I have noticed that! I have bigger thighs and I always feel like I'm losing hype over it because everyone on the "hot" page has these beautifully long, spidery legs.

I've often found myself feeling self conscious over these things. However, when in doubt, I usually treat myself to a cute vintage skirt, or some tights or a pair of skinny jeans that look good on my butt and I usually feel better because instead of hurting myself to stay stick-thin, I'm working with what I've got.

Not that I am being critical of skinny girls, or curvy girls. The point that I am making is that I do not consider myself to be "healthier" or "more attractive" than anyone else, but it's important that I don't think less of myself either.

Work with what you've got, you beauties! You're all wonderful<3

I am a fat person, I have fashion sense, and I have (some days at least :P) style. I wandered onto Lookbook through the blogs of a couple of people I admire, and thought the idea was great, but in reality, as a noob here, it's maybe not so great.

Just from my first impressions (for whatever they're worth), it looks like people are thin here because everyone else is thin. It is socially acceptable to be thin. If you are thin, you belong. If someone insults how thin you are, you can turn around and look at all the models, all the other small people here, and know that you are still acceptable, that how you look is clearly popular.
If you are fat, you're on your own. If someone insults you, you look around and no, there aren't an army of models you have to back you up. There's the odd famous person (not Beth Ditto, I find her classless trash), maybe someone more like Christina Hendricks (but even then, I would consider her simply normal).

I don't want to add pictures and have people like me just because I am fat and am 'breaking the mould' as it were. I thought this was a style site, and I would want people to appreciate my clothes and how I wear them. Looking at the top lists, you're popular if you're skinny, have photoshop, and hours to spend prancing around in fields and rolling in flowers. I only saw one person on there whose outfit I thought was actually original and inspiring (although perhaps I have odd tastes :D).

Would I like to be skinny? No. Do I want to stay fat? No to that as well, but it isn't that easy. In a week I do 5 hours of cycling, 2-3 hours swimming, and 2-3 hours resistance work. I eat healthily and I don't eat huge portions, but I just don't get any smaller. Sometimes you just have to work what you're stuck with, like it or not :)

i don't agree that clothes look a lot better on skinny people.it is a wrong idea people have.ofcourse it will look bad when bigger sizes are not available for bigger people and they have to squeeze into something smaller.
look out for better dressed people.not their sizes.i know lots of gorgeous big women who carry off clothes very well.

'sticks' ha, not all of us have eating disorders to impress lookbooks hot page, yeah its a shame most of the girls on it are slim, but who cares, make a good enough outift and maybe you will be but on, instead of moaning one about 'stick' thin girls dominating the hot page.
I find it ridiculous that half of the bigger ladies out there in this world would be totally offended if i called them fat
yet it seems to be totally fine for them to call me, and girls my size, stick thin, too thin, or presume we have eating disorders.

Maybe that is your problem too. And WOW! If I compare myself with you, I feel a lazy. I only cycle for about 5 hours a week -I cycle to school- And I've two hours PE.

And I'm happy you don't want to get freaking skinny. -I think those people are scary-

Some people are just skinny by nature, it's not their fault!

I agree that ALL body tupes are beautiful, but you shouldn't pick on someone just because they're skinny.

I know quite a few people that are slightly overweight, or even only barely so, but they're afraid to post on LookBook just for the reason that it's generally skinnier folks who are usually hyped. They're afraid that, looking at themselves, they won't compare and it isn't worth it. I beg to differ however--at least personally, I hype on LookBook based solely on the outfit, and not on the person. (At least, I try my very best to!) So that could be one reason though--people who are not super thin may be swayed away from using the website.

I think fashion can look good on any body type, you just have to pick the right items for yourself. I was extremely thin as a young child, but ever since puberty I've been a very average weight, and it's never dropped or risen for any reason.
Most people (Skinny, overweight, or average) can't help being the way they are, for better or for worse. Any change is hard, and knowing this, I think it's very rude to make fun of anything regarding their body, no matter their size!

I feel the very same way! I have always had wide hips, and it makes me feel very different from everyone else. Even when I was on track in highschool and was a low weight, the proportion of my hips was no different!

But I've learned to work with it, even though at times I find myself envying the girls with legs that go for miles. You can be pretty no matter what your size! <3

this topic did not ask about people in high fashion.this site is not about high fashion.
you don't need to be a certain size to have a sense of style or knowledge of fashion.
there are many people in the fashion industry who are not skinny.this kind of attitude pisses me off.

"hot pages tend to be dominated by skinny people"

Fact. People should hype based on clothing... Not your waist size

Well I personally think this is how this works, let's say you're walking down the street and you see 2 girls in an outfit that is exactly the same, and they look very similar. One of them is slightly overweigh and the other one is skinny. In your head you'd probably think that the skinny one looks way better.
I get this a lot in school, when people ask me how tall I am and I say I'm 5'2" and then they ask how much I weigh which is 105-110 pounds/48-50kg they're all saying how I'm really lucky to be so skinny and such. On one hand I am very happy, because this allows me to buy clothes which are size 8 or 10 and I look good in them, however ... I have barely any boobs, being at the size of 32B/34A. For this reason I can't wear strapless dresses, because they stick out.
I think it also depends on the 'judge's' perspective, e.g. for friends at school I'm 'unhealthily skinny', whereas my exbf kept on telling me I'm rather 'pleasantly plump'. I think it really depends who you ask.
One thing I really can't stand in girls, even if they are the most gorgeous women with the most excellent sense of style is a 'hole' in between their legs. I personally believe a girl's thighs should always be touching eachother when legs are close together.

I never really thought about it but I guess you're right, I haven't seen any larger people around here but I am pretty new so maybe that's why. I doubt that there aren't any on here.

I agree with you. The amount of people who have just ASSUMED I have an eating disorder because I am skinny is disgusting. Even people who are supposed to be health professionals.
I eat like a normal person. I do not have an eating disorder. Yes, I will be offended if you call me anorexic or a 'stick' just as they would be offended if I called then fat.

As someone who has had an eating disorder in the past (and then got fattened up which was horrible) I get pretty pissed off when people think girls are pretty because they are skinny. If they are overly fat (not like normal or a little bit overweight) they always complain or be rude to skinnier people. One must focus on one's personality before they think about others.

I totally agree :)
There are some amazing people on here who aren't size 00 with an amazing sense of style, and it would be a huge loss the lookbook community if they didn't post their stuff

you can be inspired by skinny or bigger fashion, it's all lovely

I agree with you, I had an eating disorder in high school and it was the worst experience of my life. I'd rather be able to eat healthily and what I want than to starve myself to look better to others.

If people want to judge me for this and think of me as less attractive, they are welcome to. At least I'm happy.

Also, you shouldn't worry Elle E. You're gorgeous!

I'm on the low end of average, but I wouldn't say there no "bigger" people on here, definitely a lot of normal sized people who know what a good camera is and that can be mistaken for "being thin/skinny". I don't think it matters about size, just knowing how to dress your body.

When I last checked, I weighed around 53-55kgs.

For a 20 year old guy, I'm really underweight. I can't seem to put on weight no matter how much I eat for some odd reason :/

It's not always about hyping slim people, because some of those 'slim people' are really professional at what they do (for example, some are models, or photographers) and the entire outcome of the picture looks great - which is what catches someone's eye, and hype.

You can't control who hypes what, so just be yourself, wear what you like, and have confidence in your individual style. Lookbook is about expresing yourself, not gaining acceptance from online strangers you may never meet. If you be yourself, someone's bound to notice :-)

And if you have a problem or insecurity with the way you look just research on how to lose weight (but the healthy way).

And some of my super skinny friends wish they weren't that skinny :/ To each his own!

It's not about size it's about confidence. If a skinny person and a fat person worse the same outfit but the fat person had more confidence i garentee you they would appear to look better. A lot of my friends are plus sized and look amazing, have modeled for various magazines and such. They're just not on lookbook because they think it's shit.

Hey Debi i totally agree with u that bigger size people have i good fashion sense..u r not skinny n u have a great fashion sense..i just love all of ur looks..u look FAB :) i just feel that skinny people have a lil edge over d others.. By that i mean suppose a skinny person is wearing an outfit which is not that great, but coz of his skinny figure d overall look seems 2 b good..again this is just my personal observation :)

well you seem to be agreeing with a lot of people who have slighty contradictory statements as well.
i appreciate that you think my fashion sense is great.however my opinions were not stated for fishing compliments.i meant every girl who is big & bigger.
and i don't agree with your observations.that's all.a crappy outfit is crappy on anyone.i don't validate people's dressing sense based on how much their skin stretches over their bodies.
anyway i feel a bit exhausted of this stupid size/weight topic right now.
