Guilty Pleasure?

Everyone has that one artist that they are a bit ashamed of...you know, the one that you pray no one notices on your iPod, the one that causes you to look over your shoulder before putting their song on....

Oh god.... there are so many. I'm a sucker for anything that gets stuck in my head, and tend towards self-indulgence... among random empty pop-punk flash-in-the-pan singles that won't leave my head, there's some Kelly Clarkson (at least she can sing), Paramore (there is no excuse for this, beyond an enjoyment of disturbingly catchy self-indulgence), and oh sweet lord. I am (apparently) the possessor of not one, but two separate singles from Aly and AJ. Wow.
All this is surrounded by actual good music, I swear.

ahh I know... I'm listening to them again now I've found them! it's insidious... plus I babysit for 2 girls who are eight and six, so I'm always getting inadvertently hooked on disney channel/tween/we're-so-earnest-can-you-stand-it? type things.
ooh and I forgot to mention, I have panic at the disco songs as well... there's something to be said for just knowing how to write a good hook.

mmm, i don't really feel guilty about them
but i'm addicted to britney spears. i can't help it! it's so catchy. admit it, she knows who to get to write her songs.
and that new beyonce song "diva." i want to do a dance to it so bad. it's so good, haha.
high school musical!!!! when i got accepted to chico state, i couldn't help but point out that i could sing the bridge of "we're all in this together" completely, because our mascot is a wildcat too.
"wildcats everywhere, wave your hands up in the air."
lady gaga recently
A LOT of rap. like lil wayne and stuff. i can't get enough :)
"too much booty in da pants" listen to it! and then watch the so you think you can dance routine from it. i challenge you not to become addicted
and then random bands like panic! at the disco and fall out boy. so disgustingly catchy.
justin timberlake-alwaysalwaysalways. from his n sync days until now.
and i'll always love my boybands and spice girls and....eh hem....some hilary duff too ;)
i figure that just makes me diverse ;)

Most of my music is "guilty pleasure" music. Broadway musicals are my top favorite but I also have a huge love for shameless pop music, especially the early 2000s Britney Spears and boy band stuff. I'm also originally from the Canadian prairies, so I listen to lots of country music.
People are always thinking that I'm being ironic. I was recently at a karaoke event at a local punk bar and when I was complaining about the lack of Spice Girls songs, the metal head next to me laughed and gave me a high five. I was being serious!!!

Definitely Panic! At the Disco. I'm actually a bit excited that it's just Brendon and Spencer and that they put the exclamation point back in.
Another would be All Time Low.
Both of these bands aren't really the sort of music I listen to.

Oh, my God, I was just listening to that some 4 or so hours ago! LOL. i cannot believe it's on my iPod, but it's probably 'cause I downloaded everything from 1996 and I must have snuck that in between 2Pac's "California Love" and Natalie Merchant's "Wonder."
(:

Something I play on repeat (but am almost too ashamed to admit, although I'm admitting now) is "Come Clean" by Hilary Duff. You know—the theme song to Laguna Beach? Don't hate me, but for a while there I was obsessed with Lauren Conrad. I think I still am.

and love drunk by boys like girls
I think that this new single was basically written for a bunch of middle school girls who will go to their shows and scream their heads off, but for some reason it's catchy and I just like it. I am ashamed, hah.

Haha. Well you're from Vegas and that's still West Coast, so, yeah, West Coast love...
I might be in Vegas in a couple of months. That's where my Dad used to live.

Mr.Numan changed music forever. I have two of his albums on vinyl, along with Tubeway Army which was his pre-solo band.
Is it just me or is M.E. the ultimate song written about lonliness and despair?
