i'm kinda in between on this one.... sometimes you feel you've got such an amazing outfit together with the perfect accessories... and you just don't wanna take anything off. But hey - who am i to contest against one of the world's most legendary designers ?

Well, I would hate to have to take off my pants before going out.

I would generally agree with this statement. At least for myself. I look too overdone, otherwise.

I never do that, I always spend a lot of time picking out my accessories, the last thing I pick is usually best haha

Coco was not being literal in the sense that you should always ALWAYS take something off. What she meant was that you should underdo accessories rather than overdo them. Most people over do them (especially in her time--and she was all about minimalism). As far as applying her advice to our outfits today. I say, in general yes, wear fewer accessories. If that means you have to put them all on and then remove one every time you get dressed, then so be it. But I don't think you always have to take advice so literally.

It depends on what i put on last. If i can live without it then i see if it looks nicer without it then sure.
but if it's a jacket and it's -12 degress outside then no sorry Coco you can go take a hike..

Yeah I don't really agree. I feel like when I add layers or jewelry or a hat to my outfit it almost always looks better.

I don't agree with the statement, but do agree that it's better to underdo accessories than it is to overdo them. I usually underdo it, so if I took off the last thing I put on I wouldn't have any accessories on.

I actually think the quote is really clever and does apply to a certain amount of people
but then again, most times I only wear a dress, with shoes and stud earrings...there wouldnt be that much to take off

I personally don't... if anything, I add more accessories before leaving. But I tend to opt for simplicity 98% of the time. I really don't abide by fashion "rules," but it wouldn't hurt for some people to consider this one.

I agree because there are people that get a bit carried away with accessorising and end up looking like a christmas tree adorned with ornaments... Its like they feel the need to wear all their jewellery at once instead of taking signature pieces that compliment the outfit...

I think Coco lived in a fashion era that was incredibly simple and classic and beautiful, so to overdue it would be a mistake. With contemporary fashion I think you can mix it up a bit more. She was a person after all, who lived in her own time, she probably wouldn't exactly approve of what is on the runway these days - perhaps not even her own label! :) my two cents..

I agree with Celeste. Plus I almost never wear accessories other than like a scarf or a belt, so I don't feel I could really 'overdo it' with that. I think the main thing is that your accessories should complement your outfit rather than BE the outfit.
