For me, I only wear heels in an environment where I know more people will be dressed up (ex. fancier restaurants). Usually I don't wear them to just buy groceries, since I find that most people aren't as dressed up as you, and you just feel really out of place. The type of shoes I wear out always depends on my surroundings.

I am dreadful, I have a shameless amount of beautiful high heels which I barely wear except on nights out with friends which there aren't an abundance of where I live, as there's very few nice places to go.

I have recently bought a fabulous pair of suede wooden soled platforms from Topshop with quite a chunky heel and I find them extremely comfortable, which makes me want more platforms so that I can introduce them into every day wear perhaps!

I envy those who wear them every day, does anyone have any tips to make breaking into heels somewhat less painful? Any products that anyone uses that they swear by?

I have a ridiculous amount of shoes. I'm disabled and can only walk a few steps, but I just wear them around the house or our in my chair. My family laugh because I'm always in heels and I frequently get the 'yeah but you don't have to walk in them' comment.

I'm having to learn to walk again after two years of being immobile. I could never walk in high heels before - I was somewhat of a tom boy - so I figured, if I'm learning from scratch, I may as well learn to walk in heels!

When breaking heels in, I tend to wear them just in the house, even for an hour or so at a time so that when you come to wear them out, your feet are used to the position and the muscles in your legs are used to being used.

I'm just crazy but I say wear heels whenever you want if you feel like it then do it. Plus I think that it can make you feel more confident cause getting dressed up makes everyone feel better so I say it's ok to go to the grocery store in heels. You'll stand out but i'm sure you'll some good attention.

i wear heels anytime i feel like it.
when i need to run some erands, i just pick matching heels and go out without changing my clothes. i think heels somehow upgrade your whole appearance :).

even soooo... can't agree more that flats are far more comfortable than heels.

to be honest i have a huge collection of high heels but most of the time i actually do only wear them if im getting something from the grocery store. they hurt so much i use them only when i know ill b home soon:P sometimes i might wear them when i go shopping because i love to hear the sound of the heel hitting the floor at the mall. its silly but nice!:) oh and parties. hmm i guess i wear them alot come to think of it!

i only wear high heels!!!! everywhere. anywhere. all times of day and night. to class. the market. a bar. for lunch. to take the garbage out. etc etc

my tip for making shoes comfortable: dont buy shoes under $100! it's not worth it. get a pair you love that match everything and wear 'em till you get your moneys worth.

for comfort, get something with a wider heel (stilettos lead to wobbling..) and a slightly platformed toe, so you can get height without strain on your arch.

all the time, everywhere, pretty much every day, unless it's winter, in which case i'm usually wearing boots. my feet are always bleeding, i'm not kidding. there are always band-aids in my purse... and a pair of ballet slippers for me to sneak into as soon as i'm somewhere that i can take the shoes off.

Good God, I love heels. I don't believe there's such a thing as too high a pair of heels! =) I don't wear them to grocery stores or to the gym, but pretty much every where else. My most fab pairs are saved for media events that I have to go to as a part of my job!

Wedges are brilliant. I find that whenever i wear heels i can't walk in them, or i walk strangely.
My feet hurt far too much in them to wear them that often, i wish i could wear them daily, but i am relatively tall 5"8, so really high heels make me even taller!
Anyone got any tips of how i can start to wear them more often with as little pain as possible??

i wear heels wherever i feel ike it. i hate the actual walking part -- standing around and lounging = my forte so i usually only wear them if they're very comfortable or i'm not walking too much. school, parties, that kind of thing i'll wear my most comfortable heels and for formal events i'll wear the uncomfy ones.

I wear them wherever and whenever I feel like wearing them! I try to keep the heels manageable if I'm running to classes (2.5 inches or so) because I live in a very hill-y/mountainous region and that doesn't do me very many favors. 3-4 inch heels are usually reserved for anywhere I can get to in a car.

I wear them only when I know I won't have to walk very much, for example to university. I'd never wear heels when I go out, I just can't walk in them for a long time, my feet start to hurt, I feel uncomfortable. It's not worth it and besides, everybody else can see it too.

In the end... Heels look fabulous but overall I look and feel better in flats or at least low heels.

Absolutely everywhere.
I moved back to southern California from San Francisco for a while, and NO ONE really dresses up to go out here (unless they're doing something special or going clubbing, obviously), but I continue dressing like I do in the city because it makes me feel good. :P

As for breaking them in, just make sure you don't need to walk much or on uneven ground the first few times. Socks or stockings help too.

i wear heels everyday to work and feel more comfortable in them than flats at this point. i always tell my husband that i'm going to have the most hideous old lady feet. luckily he loves me so he's ok with this arrangement. i also have very short legs so it just looks better proportionately and with most of my wardrobe, i.e. dresses.

including at school, when i go out shopping, parties, the city, or even when I just chill with people. I always make sure they're comfortable (or at least as comfortable as possible), and I love when they start out on a platform for extra height without torturing my poor feet! they actually aren't looking too hot right now...maybe i should switch to flats for a week...

i too have too many pairs of once-used, twice-use, never-used heels.
i work in tech support and used to have to carry a lot of computers (danger!) or walk across campus (ouchies!). now i work more on user software support so i stay at my desk most of the time but i've already habituated into my flats or sneakers. :C
and unfortunately i am going to be working in the medical lab soon and i don't think they will like my [smokin' hott] 4.5" platform stilettos.
so that leaves parties and going to the grocery store...

the irony of it all- the most i ever wore heels was in high school when i went to a speech and debate tournament nearly every month for 4 years!
now i'm a real adult and barely wear them at all.

I love wearing heels and I wear them all the time. I wear them to school, to Walmart, out with friends, to shows, to parties.

I have dressier heels. But I also have just casual looking heels that I wear all the time.

My aunt always says it's always better to be overdressed than to be underdressed. I'm the only freshman, better yet the only person in my school who wears heels almost everyday.of course i do wear my kicks/ballet flats /boots from time to time but usually if its the weekend, i give my feet a rest unless i go out. But i hate when i go to school without my hels becaus then tell my friends you look taller, and they say no you've just gotten shorter. I'm 5 '1" so having heels makes me feel taller

i have quite a collection of over 30+ pairs (yes, i am a shoe addict) and most of them have a 5" platform heel.
as i'm 5ft10 i tend to be pretty much taller than everyone else which makes me feel a bit odd, but i quite like it at the same time :D hah
i just need to work out the knack of wearing them so i can get more use of out them instead of just putting them on to go out on a weekend.
i wish i could wear them everyday!

Ha ha, believe it or not, some of us on LB are old enough to have this thing called a career, and wear them to work. They exude an air of sexiness and authority that can't be gained any other way.

That being said, there's nothing more tarty (or trashy) than a young girl wearing heels (especially those that can't yet properly walk in them); it's kind of like getting your period, or your driver's license. There's a right of passage that must be successfully navigated before one can wear heels.

I know it must sound like I am advocating a double standard (or ageism) and I guess, in a way, I am. Young girls have plenty of nubile sexuality to attract a man without heels; to use them when you are 15 is a bit obscene, overdoing it. But for a mature woman (25+), really, there is nothing more chic and sophisticated than a woman who can wear heels like no one's business.

I used to have a corporate job, so wore them a bit then, but now I just love dressing up.
My mum never let me wear them until I was 18 so they're still a bit of a novelty for me LOL but as I'm fairly short, I love them....

I would wear them to more places, if only I weren't so dependent on walking/taking the bus everywhere. back when i had a car to my disposal though, i would have no qualms whatsoever over wearing some heels. They just get bothersome to wear when you're trudging long distances, or getting creepy stares from people on the bus.

School and public transportation....two places where you do not want to be over dressed.

I'd love to wear heels everywhere! But sometimes they're too uncomfortable.... I try to get comfy pairs and everytime I am about to buy a pair I really think about it, I have only got an uncomfy pair of all I have (which are only 8 pairs I think and two pairs of boots)

The problem, in my opinion, that heels have is that they make you look so dressy instantaneously. I do always dress up a lot and wear some more normal shoes but when I want to wear heels I can't see which clothes I should wear them with! I am not good at simple things and if I don't do simple I might looks like I am trying too hard and that's something I hate.....

It depends how old you are, you can wear them to a nice dinner or lunch if your over 18 anytime Really though you can wear them anywhere. I only wear them to parties and special occasions but thats because I'm younger, I'd wear them everywhere if I could.

i wear heels quite a lot come to think of it.
i might take a spare pair though, or those gel filled plasters, if you wear shoes out for a while you know where you get blisters, so next time you wear them just put those plasters there and hey presto!=] (yes im sad hehe)
but i also have comfortable heels, which are actually wedges, but i just like something with a bit of height, makes me more confident. I'm not especially short for my age, but that extra height just makes me comfortable and makes me walk better

I love heels, I love the feeling of walking in them - none of my heels hurt me and never have, most of the shoes that hurt me are my flats.

I wish I could wear them more often but most times I feel out of place. I'm already half a inch off of 5ft 8inches so with heels I'm massive. I don't mind wearing them if I go out with my Mum since she's 6ft so it looks balanced but my tallest friend is 5ft 5inches and she wears heels twice a year or so? My other friends never wear heels as they feel they can't walk in them.

God that was a paragraph kinda?

So with me being not far off 6ft with my heels on and my friends being in the range of 5ft to 5ft 5inches I look extremely out of place. (:

Edit: I don't mind wearing them shoppings etc either as long as I'm with someone around my height like a few days ago I went to Sainsburys with my Mums boyfriend who's 6ft in 4inch white stilettos and skinny jeans!
